Zhenzhu stores settings, lookup history, vocabulary status, flashcards, decks, and review history in your macOS user account. Your license key is stored in the macOS Keychain.

Learning files are not separately encrypted by Zhenzhu. They receive the protection provided by your Mac account, filesystem, backups, and Keychain where applicable.

Selected text, clipboard fallback content, translations, dictionary definitions, screenshots, OCR images, and generated speech are processed only for the feature you request. Zhenzhu does not send this material to its crash-reporting service.

Images or audio are saved with a card only when you choose a feature that creates that card content.

Crash reporting is off by default. A new installation asks near the end of onboarding; an existing installation is asked once after updating. You can decline or later change the choice in Privacy & Data settings.

If enabled, Zhenzhu may send a technical crash stack, app version and build, release channel, and an opaque event identifier to Sentry. Zhenzhu disables analytics, tracing, profiling, session replay, screenshots, view hierarchy capture, network tracking, automatic breadcrumbs, log forwarding, and user identity fields.

After an unexpected close, the next launch may offer an optional comment field associated with that crash. It asks for no name or email and attaches no local logs. Please do not put personal or reading content in the comment.

Zhenzhu uses Sentry, operated by Functional Software, Inc., to receive opted-in crash diagnostics. Sentry necessarily processes the network request used to deliver a report. Zhenzhu does not use crash reporting to track you across apps or websites.

Learn more in Sentry's privacy policy. Zhenzhu also uses client-side filtering and Sentry's server-side privacy controls to prevent IP addresses and unexpected personal data from being stored in new events.

• Choose Share Crash Reports or Don't Share during the one-time prompt.
• Turn sharing off later in Settings → Privacy & Data.
• When sharing is turned off, Zhenzhu closes the reporter without waiting to upload and removes its controlled local crash-report cache.
• If you turn sharing back on after revoking it, reporting resumes after Zhenzhu is relaunched.

License activation and validation use Lemon Squeezy over HTTPS. Software updates use Sparkle with an HTTPS feed and signed packages. Optional Anki export talks to the Anki desktop app on your own computer. Apple's Translation and speech behavior is governed by macOS.

The website waitlist sends the email and interests you submit to its configured form service. The Mac app does not require a Zhenzhu account.

Accessibility permission lets Zhenzhu read text you intentionally select and position a lookup beside it. Screen Recording permission enables user-requested pixel capture for Snip to Translate and Hover Lookup. Clipboard fallback is optional and can be disabled.

This notice will be updated before Zhenzhu introduces materially different collection, such as accounts, cloud synchronization, analytics, or server-side language processing.
