孩子们去找住在河边的李奶奶。她以前住在下河街，现在住在镇上的另一边。
李奶奶说：“那天晚上，我先听到很大的水声，后来才听到广播。”
小雨问：“广播说了什么？”
“它说大家不用担心。”李奶奶回答，“可是水已经进了我的家。”
她从柜子里拿出一只旧鞋。鞋上还有泥。“这是我孙子的鞋。他没有找到。”
三个孩子安静下来。李奶奶把鞋放回柜子，轻轻地关上门。
