林远介绍孩子们认识一位住在外地的女人。她叫周宁，洪水那晚只有十六岁。
周宁说，她和弟弟住在下河街。晚上八点半左右，她听到远处的广播，但是声音突然停了。几分钟后，邻居跑来敲门，说河水已经到路上。
“我们从后门逃出去。”她说，“可是弟弟回去拿药，再也没有回来。”
周宁保留着一张旧车票和一张小照片。照片背面写着弟弟的名字，但官方名单里没有他。
陈可问：“为什么你从来没有向镇上要求解释？”
周宁笑了一下。“我父母去找过。他们被告诉，如果继续说，家里的房子也会没有。”
她把照片交给小雨。“我不需要他们说我是对的。我只希望他们承认，我弟弟曾经存在过。”
离开前，周宁告诉他们，还有一个人知道南门是谁打开的。那个人现在住在上河区。
