暴雨预警发布后的第二天，水坝管理处公布了一份简短通知：设备运行正常，居民不需要提前撤离。
何工却从一位还在管理处工作的旧同事那里得到另一份资料。资料显示，南闸门旁边的旧墙出现了新的裂缝。裂缝虽然不大，但如果水位继续升高，压力可能会迅速增加。
“他们为什么不把这个消息公开？”小雨问。
何工回答：“因为一旦公开，所有人都会问同一个问题：十五年前，他们到底知道什么？”
王老师建议把资料交给新闻记者。记者看完以后，只说自己需要核实来源。当天晚上，市里的新闻没有提到裂缝，镇上的广播仍然播放音乐。
林远看着沉默的收音机。“他们还在使用同一种办法，”他说，“让没有声音看起来像没有问题。”
