听证会开始前，奶奶把自己写好的证言读给小雨听。她没有把自己写成被迫做错事的可怜人，而是清楚地说明了自己的选择。
她写道，电台负责人确实威胁了她，但她也有机会在洪水后向记者说明情况。她没有这样做，因为她相信沉默可以保护家人，也因为她害怕自己成为第一个站出来的人。
“你为什么要把自己写得这么严格？”小雨问。
奶奶说：“因为如果我只说别人逼我，别人就会以为我没有任何选择。人有时没有好的选择，但通常还有一点选择。”
她在证言最后写了林远当晚的原话，也写了自己改掉记录时的时间。
小雨问她是否准备在听证会上发言。
奶奶点头。“我不期待大家原谅我。我只希望以后有人问起那天时，不要再让他们只听见一个版本。”
