凌晨两点，雾河镇全部停电。旧电台只剩下一盏应急灯，雨声却比任何时候都清楚。
直播设备停止工作，林远拿出一台不用电网的老式发射机。它的声音不如现代设备清楚，却可以通过山顶天线传到河谷另一边。
“这台机器还能用吗？”阿明问。
“不知道。”林远说，“但是十五年前，它至少还没有学会沉默。”
阿明把电池接好，陈可在旁边读出最新的水位。王老师把所有文件按顺序放在桌上。林秋则坐在门口，负责把居民的电话记录下来。
这时，赵镇长再次来到电台。他带来了调查委员会的授权，允许林远在安全广播结束后播放历史录音。
“你决定支持我们了？”林远问。
赵镇长摇头。“我决定不再替别人决定他们应该知道什么。”
备用发射机亮起红灯。整个房间里没有人说话，只有机器发出低沉的嗡鸣。
