那天晚上，三个孩子在小雨家做作业。奶奶已经睡了，房间里只有台灯和雨声。
十一点左右，门外传来很轻的脚步声。有人在院子里停了一会儿，然后走到厨房的窗边。
阿明想去开门，陈可拉住了他。小雨关掉台灯，三个人安静地站在黑暗里。
窗外的人没有进来。他只是在门口放了一个信封，然后离开。
信封里是他们在档案室拍下的名单照片。照片上有一条黑线，正好盖住赵明的签名。
信封背面没有名字，只有一句话：停止调查，否则下一个名字也会消失。
第二天，陈可说应该把信交给警察。阿明认为这样会让对方知道他们害怕。
小雨把信放进书包。“我们先不告诉任何人，”她说，“但是从现在开始，我们要保存每一份证据。”
